The DIEI carries out basic and applied research in the areas directly associated with EE and Information Science through a number of Research Laboratories. The academic body forms an interdisciplinary team with expertise in the fields of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Information Science and Technology, Telecommunications, Economics, Mathematics, and Physics.
The DIEI is also host to the DEWS Center of Excellence and to part of the CETEMPS Center of Excellence
